The overall goal of our research is to
understand the mechanism of surface reactions at the molecular level.
Towards this goal, we use a number of surface-sensitive techniques,
including temperature-programmed desorption (TPD),
reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS), x-ray
photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ion scattering (ISS), secondary ion
mass spectrometry (SIMS), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), and
low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) together with molecular beams
and atmospheric pressure cells. We focus on catalytic and material
science problems.
